MARK WHEATLEY COVERS STARGATE ATLANTIS
PSYCHED to have my RETURN OF THE HUMAN co-creator MARK WHEATLEY, also known for BREATHTAKER, MARS, FRANKENSTEIN MOBSTER, EZ STREET, LONE JUSTICE and so many others, providing this phenomenal STARGATE ATLANTIS piece.
I think Mark captured the spirit of the characters in excellent fashion!
WRITING STARGATE ATLANTIS With MARK HAYNES
MARK HAYNES and I have been collaborating on and off for a LONG time. Now we're co-writing STARGATE ATLANTIS Season Six in comics for AMERICAN MYTHOLOGY. And we're working on another, thus far secret, project for a very recognizable name in the entertainment business.
THE FLIGHT
Over the years I've been able to work with artists BRIAN and BRENDON FRAIM on a number of projects, including ANTIQUES: THE COMIC STRIP, VAMPIRE, PA, a short story for ACTOR Comics Presents, and a cover for OVERSTREET'S COMIC PRICE REVIEW.
Now we're working together on THE FLIGHT, a science fiction tale based on one of my short stories, for DAVID LLOYD's excellent digital anthology ACES WEEKLY.
Chapter One of THE FLIGHT will run in ACES Volume 19 as a teaser, and then it will start in earnest a short while later.
Here's some concept/developmental work by the guys.

THE FLIGHT
VERY glad to be working with BRIAN & BRENDON FRAIM again. They killed it on ANTIQUES: THE COMIC STRIP and did even better on VAMPIRE, PA. Now they're stepping it up once more for this story, THE FLIGHT, which will appear in DAVID LLOYD's phenomenal digital anthology, ACES WEEKLY. It will preview in Volume 19 and debut in either Volume 20 or 21.

COVER STORY: Valiant at 25
I enjoy writing the Cover Story column for Scoop. A lot of folks have theories about what makes a great cover. Some of them are wrong. Some are right. And of course I have my own theories. Each week I get to explore them.
Recently a did a short series on Valiant covers, both from the original -- probably the best line of comics to hit the market since the early days of Marvel -- and the new line-up.
Among them, I took at look at Harbinger #1, X-O Manowar #5, Magnus Robot Fighter #0, Unity #0, Rai #0, Harbinger (2012) #1 and X-O Manowar (2012) #1. Some cool covers on some great comics. Very little in life is so much fun.
While I've done crime comics, The Avengers, and other series in addition to Valiant, there's not always a recurring theme except, like I said, what makes a great cover.

COVER STORY
What makes the best comic book covers? Each week I tackle that topic in a fun way in a Scoop column called... wait for it... Cover Story.
It’s a great topic for debate. For us as individuals there is no wrong answer, of course. It’s purely subjective. But with a little thought it is frequently possible to explain what it is about a particular image that grabs you. The best ones are the ones that make you stop and check out something you weren’t previously going to purchase – and in some cases, you even end up picking up a title you’ve never even heard of before.
Among the ones I've detailed lately are The Falcon #1, The Maze Agency #7, Nathaniel Dusk II #1, Doctor Mid-Nite #1, The Avengers #200, Manhunter #1, Somerset Holmes #1, and Jezebel Jade #1, among others.
